Uncouplers of Spinach Chloroplast Photosynthetic

چکیده
tion at pH 5.5 resulted in preferential destruction of IC photoreduction ability. 4. Addition of zinc ion preferentially inhibited the photooxidation of ascorbic acid. 5. Treatment of chloroplasts with digitonin resulted in a drastic loss of ability to catalyze the Hill reaction and IC photoreduction, yet yielded a preparation which was over 6 times as active in terms of ascorbic acid photooxidation. 6. These results are briefly discussed in terms of reaction mechanisms for these 3 photochemical reactions.

Antigenic relationships between chloroplast and cytosolic fructose-1,6-bisphosphatases.
Cytosolic fructose-1,6-biphosphatases (FBPase, EC 3.1.3.11) from pea (Pisum sativum L. cv Lincoln) and spinach (Spinacia oleracea L. cv Winter Giant) did not cross-react by double immunodiffusion and western blotting with either of the antisera raised against the chloroplast enzyme of both species; similarly, pea and spinach chloroplast FBPases did not react with the spinach cytosolic FBPase an...
متن کاملThe association of chloroplast DNA with photosynthetic membrane vesicles from spinach chloroplasts.
To investigate the association between chloroplast DNA (cp DNA) and the photosynthetic membranes of spinach chloroplasts, previously suggested by electron-microscope autoradiography, use has been made of vesicles formed by isolating chloroplasts directly in 3.5 mM Mg2+. These chloroplast vesicles consist of photosynthetic membranes, separate from chloroplast envelope membranes. Light and electr...
متن کاملPurification and reconstitution of the N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide-sensitive ATPase complex from spinach chloroplasts.
The dicyclohexylcarbodiimide-sensitive ATPase from spinach chloroplast has been isolated. On sodium dodecyl sulfate gels, seven different polypeptides were seen. Five of these polypeptides coincided with the CF1 subunits, a 7,500-dalton peptide was identified as the proteolipid which interacts with [14C]dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, and there was a 15,500-dalton hydrophobic polypeptide with unknown...
متن کاملUptake of bicarbonate ion in darkness by isolated chloroplast envelope membranes and intact chloroplasts of spinach.
Bicarbonate uptake by isolated chloroplast envelope membranes and intact chloroplasts of spinach (Spinacia oleracea L. var. Viroflay) in darkness exhibited a similar dependency upon temperature, pH, time, and concentrations of isolated or attached envelope membranes. This similarity in uptake properties demonstrates the usefulness of the envelope membranes for the study of chloroplast permeabil...
